About Me

Jay

I work as a freelance software consultant. I wear many hats in the software services sector.

I primarily make my money as a software architect level developer. I am usually hired as a one man army developer who manages everything from day to day development, weekly meets with the project owner/CEO/VP, assist in deployments, code management and work with connected developers as well as clients and also with the support team.

Along with the above, I also moonlight as a trainer. That includes corporate training where I handle batches of 10 to 40 at IT companies. I also do one to one training to students and other developers all over the world

Along with the above, I also am an entrepreneur who owns his own farmland, owns his own photo print shop and other business interests

I also work as a consultant (general business, startup assistance, software technology expert). A lot of times, folks like to just talk and discuss with me. Help them out with some new tech ideas they have. Talk about technology and get advice

When I am not training or developing or consulting, I do photography. I watch a ton of movies. thats all there is to it

Freelance Consultant - Training and Development

My current job, and the one that have been doing it for the longest in my life. Started off by teaching computer science subjects as a temp at a local engineering college. Then, got into private tutoring and freelance development of dot net. Started getting some work with that. Got very interested in windows phone. That led to Azure related development. Then, moving to asp.net MVC. From their, general web development. Got into Android, and after a while, Got into iOS. Then, I got deep into Azure Architect level work, automated deployments, React and most recently Flutter.

Now, I am looking at building my own training syllabus on a pet project I have been working for years.

Completed my longest (18 months!) and biggest project yet

January 2018, I was hired by this legal tech company in UK as an emergency replacement developer. What was supposed to be a 2 week assignment turned into a major engagement of 30 hours per week. I was the sole developer for over 12 months, and continued to be the lead developer till it was wrapped up. I was coding, bug fixing, taking care of deployments, interacting with clients directly, talking to the sales team. As the project went on, we kept on adding new 3rd party features. Eventually, (as per my employer) the project became so good, it was snapped up by a larger IT company and I was heaped with a ton of praise and a large bonus.

By far, my proudest assignment.

MBA - Marketing at SDM-IMD

Got my MBA degree from SDM-IMD. By far, one of the coolest places I have every visited in my life. I did not learn much inside the classrooms. However, outside the classrooms, in the campus, with the people and the amount of pressure, those were the real lessons. If not for this learning, I would have never have gotten the steel round things to get into freelancing later in my career. SDM-IMD, pure awesomeness!

Achieved 90 words per minute

I realize that using the keyboard is an important part of the decision i made a few years ago about becoming a software guy. I join a typing institute, and go to classes every day for a year. A year later, I can type at 90 words per minute.

This speed saves me hours over the years, and makes me look cool while I am working on the keyboard and impress a ton of people!

It has cool slow motion. It has cool slow motion gun battles. It has the lead heroine in skin tight leather outfit. More importantly its about a software coding developer guy who believes in changing the rules.

I decide overnight that I should do something in software!
